This post is a little out of the norm for this blog. There’s nothing about running, biking, swimming, or eating. The important thing to remember is it’s still all about me. If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few weeks then you probably aren’t reading this, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament wrapped up last night. The UConn Huskies beat the Butler Bulldogs in a painful-to-watch slugfest (and the massive decline in office productivity came to an end).
Take a look at the top of this list. Notice anything special? Here, I underlined it. That’s right! I won a 27-person bracket pool! Not only that, but everyone who entered made a $20 donation to the Winner’s Fund. Here’s my actual (winning) bracket. If you look at R64, I was in second-to-last place with 190 points. After R32 I jumped up to 11th place. Following S16 I found myself in 2nd place! And after E8 I moved nicely into 1st and never looked back.
In an eerie turn of events, I wasn’t even planning on joining a pay-to-play bracket. Free, just-for-fun pools were good enough for me. However, about 2 hours before the first games started I was invited into a friend’s pool. In the excitement of the looming March Madness I couldn’t say no. Having a clairvoyant moment, I pointed out the silliness of me sending money just to have it returned a few weeks later. But the rules are the rules, much to Keith’s chagrin I’m sure.
So that’s that. Very exciting (for me)! Expect more of your regularly scheduled programming coming soon.
