The Gypsy Picnic

Those of you who are privileged enough to know me certainly understand my excitement for new and unique food. I mean, my running blog transformed into a running PLUS food blog for that very reason. Surprisingly, Austin has proven itself to be quite accommodating to my food addiction (I think I would die without food!). Case in point, there’s a sweet event going on here the first weekend of November that’s going to let Austin flaunt its [food] stuff: The Gypsy Picnic!

With 30 local food carts and trailers providing smaller portions for smaller prices, the Gypsy Picnic is a dream come true for an

Austin foodie with an appetite for mobile food. With access to a wide array of food trailers from around the city, it’s a veritable pantheon of delightful offerings to excite the taste buds. There will be carts, trucks, and trailers from all over the Austin area congregating in one spot for the first time at this scale. For me the best part is that I can try all those places that are open too far, too early, or too late for me to try on a normal day.

Even more, what’s smart, nay! ingenious about the Gypsy Picnic is that it’s free to the public. Without any sort of entry fee, the event becomes accessible to all, even those who may be food-phobic. You know, those folks who prefer to stick to their comforting fast food joints or uninspiring national chains. Ok, you get it, there will be tasty food, but let’s say great food isn’t enough to draw in the casual eater. Well, what pairs incredibly well with food? Music. Alongside the local food will be local bands. You’ll have to stay tuned (pun!) to the website for the line-up.

So head on out November 6th from 11am til 8pm to Auditorium Shores for some good food and tunes! What else are you going to do? You’ll need to eat, so that solves one problem. And while you’re there, relax with your four-legged friend and listen to the free music, even if you hate fun. Go. Just go and thank me later. You might just learn something about yourself! And you can be sure I’ll keep you updated here and on Twitter before, during, and after the ultimate picnic of the year.
