Hot Rod Coffee Trailer

There’s an unassuming trailer in a nondescript parking lot in a oft-forgotten part of town.  In that no man’s land on Burnet Road, north of 2222 and south of Anderson, one trailer is making noise by offering an uncommon combination of tasty fare.  The Hot Rod Coffee Trailer specializes in coffee to get you going in the morning, and then naturally shifts gears to serve up fancy-sounding hot dogs.  Why?  Well, why not.  And to round things out, the trailer is all about motorcycles and muscle cars.  Coffee, hot dogs, horsepower.  I’m in.

Hot Rod Coffee Trailer

I’ve been fortunate enough to start my day with HRCT’s coffee many times.  Each and every time I’m greeted with a “Hey Mike” from the owner, Ken.  He’s a former biker and as it turns out, one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.  He truly cares about making sure you get the best cup of coffee he can make.  And he makes it well.  Really well.  To go with it you can grab a pastry delivered fresh daily from Quack’s 43rd Street Bakery.

Recently they’ve begun offering made-to-order breakfast sandwiches.  Have it made your way.  My way?  English muffin with egg, ham, pepperjack cheese, and maple syrup.  Sound good?  Sounds great.  It made me forget everything I knew about breakfast sandwiches, which is probably more than I’d like to admit.  If you’re skeptical of my creation, there are countless other combinations you can piece together more to your liking.

Hot Rod Coffee

Although the Hot Rod Coffee Trailer’s location may at first seem a bit off the beaten path, don’t worry about them.  The morning commute and a healthy set of regulars keeps this trailer firing on all cylinders.  But just to be safe, maybe you should get over there and try it out for yourself.  I haven’t had a chance to taste one of their Nathan’s hot dogs yet, but if the online feedback is even half true, it’s sure to be a mighty fine lunch.

Check ’em out on Facebook and, of course, in person.

UPDATE: Here’s a little note direct from the owner of the trailer that I think is important to mention.  It speaks directly to how much he cares about making you the best cup of coffee possible.  Basically it means you have nothing to lose.

    Hi Mike,
Thanks so much for such a nice article about us at Hot Rod Coffee Trailer. The only fact I want to dispute which is only partially right. I am not a “former biker”. Although sometimes it feels like I am since opening my business. With a six day a week schedule and sometimes working for the business on Sundays for various tasks or projects doesn’t leave much time or energy for riding the motorcycle much these days. However I did make time this past Sunday to ride a couple hundred miles, which for me is therapy. In fact I rode with a customer/friend/triathlete that comes from a group that are regulars, the TWT or Two Wheeled Texans that comes by at least every Thursday.

Again thanks Mike for a nice blog about us. Customers that visit may or may not hear about our policy.
