The day after the San Antonio Marathon, recovery was my number one priority, so what better way to recover than hit up an untested food cart? Colin smartly stayed in Austin an extra day to recover too, so he joined me as we picked up Ev from work for lunch downtown. After hyping up Chi’Lantro BBQ (a lot), they graced us with an atypical Monday lunch opening. Of course I’m always down for a Korean-Mexican fusion, but this time I wanted to go with something I can’t regularly get. And what might that be? A fried catfish po’ boy of course!

Jalopy Rotisserie and Press – Back to Basics
Sometimes the simpler things are, the better. You know, “less is more” and all that. Well I put that to the test on my second visit to The Jalopy Rotisserie and Press. If you remember, last time I tried the molé and Ev went with the son hong, both of which were very
tasty and paved the way for a second visit. This time I figured I’d dig into the Jalopy’s roots with a simpler option: The Original.
Lucky’s Puccias
So it’s clear who the runner, blogger, maniac, over-indulger is in the family. But let’s get serious here, I do my fair share of eating too! I also have the glorious advantage of working downtown, affording me the opportunity to enjoy Austin’s fabulous lunchtime food trucks. I have to admit though, I don’t tend to venture too far from the office during the work day.
Plus, working directly across the street from Whole Foods (the Whole Foods, flagship style) essentially means that my cafeteria is a natural food mecca. But this week I trekked the mere block and a half to Lucky’s Puccias.
Austin City Limits
Austin City Limits, a three-day music festival featuring 130 bands on 8 stages, comes to Austin every year. You know what that fails to mention? The copious amounts food. We’re not talking the standard burger or pizza, though there was plenty of that. Over the three days we hit up sixteen food vendors in and around the concert. Warning: This post might get a little long, so I’ll try to only touch on the highlights…
Jalopy Rotisserie and Press
While Ev was out of town, I went on a bit of a food truck rampage, so it was only fitting that we visited another meal on wheels when she got back to Austin. Our truck of choice? The Jalopy Rotisserie and Press. Their specialty? Rotisserie chicken sandwiches.
